Tate Taylor’s comedic drama brings together a group of college friends for a reunion of sorts and carries us on a journey of self-discovery and maturing.

Lucy has battled obesity her entire life and with the “little time she has left,” she wants to spend a final weekend together with her college friends like she once remembered. Gathering her friends in Montana she reveals that the reality of the situation isn’t what any of them were expecting. She’s planned a four day cathartic hike through the mountains instead. Unhappy about the deception that lured them in and unprepared for a trip into the wilderness the weekend is set into a downward spiral that will test the nature of these friendships. Stripped of modern conveniences with no place to hide, the winding uphill trail brings to surface everyone’s inner demons and fears. Lucy soon realizes her friends are now a far cry from those whom she had remembered and that her final wish wasn’t the best of ideas after all.

In the spirit of The Big Chill, Pretty Ugly People explores the impact of the relationships of our youth and how difficult it is to maintain the spirit of those friendships as we grow up.
